Tom Courbet’s love affair with the camera as a mode of artistic expression spans over 25 years. His studies at the Art Institute of Chicago, Roosevelt University and Columbia College allowed him to develop an aesthetic evident in his work today. He has a varied background as a fine arts painter and sculptor, an art instructor, a wedding photographer, a commercial photographer and, now, a digital artist.Tom has always moved to a different drummer and his work is a reflection of this. His work has been exhibited in numerous shows, winning prize ribbons and honorable mentions. Tom builds upon age old principles of aesthetics, and using traditional photographic techniques and the new technologies of DIGITAL MEDIA, seeks to produce art work that satisfies man’s ageless fascination with natural beauty. 1/02Int’l Lib of Photo 2nd prize; 4/02Nat's Arts Prog(NAP)Chula Vista(CV) 3rd Prize; 6-7/02 DelMar Fair,6 hung,4 Honorables;4/03 Quest SD Union&Nat'l Hist Museum Nature & Eye 1st B&W-3rd Color;4/03 NAP CV Honorable; 6-7/03 DelMar Fair-8hung-2nd Digital Art-3 Honorables; 7-9/03 solo exhib So.County Arts Council(SCAC)–Frontiers in Photography;9/03 2003 solo exhib–SCAC Red White & Blue 9-11 Salute to the Flag |
